Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer

Wow --- soooooo hard to believe that summer break is almost over. WHERE DID THE TIME GO???? Yep, in less than 2 weeks, all 3 kiddos will be back in school. In so many ways, it seems like summer just got here and now here we are practically in the middle of August already. I decided not to procrastinate quite as badly this year and I've actually already purchased most of the kids' school supplies. In addition, I've spent a small fortune on school uniforms for all 3 of them. Seems as though Alex grew AGAIN (thank you, Advocare and football weight lifting!) and can't wear any of his school clothes from last Spring. Same thing goes for both Nick and Carly (minus the Advocare and weight lifting! LOL). Who would've thought that those little miniature Catholic school girl plaid uniform jumpers would be so darn expensive! And then I practically have to pay for them all over again in alteration costs because, of course, they absolutely drown poor little Carly. :o) Oh well -- I guess I should be thankful that school uniforms means I don't have to buy her so many 'regular' clothes. But then again, shopping for Carly has become a favorite hobby of mine . . . and I'm not sure I want to give that up . . . smile.

Football started for Nick this week and will start for Alex on Tuesday. Let the rat race begin! Actually, this year's season should be a bit less hectic for yours truly because Alex can drive himself to and from. That will be a relief, to say the least. :o) And as for the school year .... well, if you know me, you know how I feel about THAT. I would just as soon keep my kids out of school forever! LOL. Carly is super excited because she will go to Kindergarten. I don't think she quite realizes that this means she will go to school EVERY day ALL day vs the 3 afternoons a week she went for the last two years while in preschool. I'm sure we'll have some 'growing pains' with that transition, as she still enjoys her afternoon nap on most days. We'll get through it, though -- as adaptable as she is to most situations, I have no doubt it won't take her long at all to get "in the groove".

We've been getting as much pool time in as we can these last few weekends and we'll continue to do so until it closes after Labor Day weekend. This coming weekend is supposed to be super hot and muggy, so I foresee some awesome pool weather. :o)

Enjoy these last few weeks of summer, everyone!!!
